Red Bull Soap Box Derby!
Written by Miss Manayunk
Red Bull's Soap Box Derby is coming to MANAYUNK on Sept 6, 2008! Red Bull Soapbox Race will challenge 40 teams of up to four members each to craft zany human-powered driving machines to race against the clock in a downhill dash to the finish line. On September 6, Philly’s finest will have the chance to put their skills to the test down Lyceum Ave in Manayunk, also known as “The Wall”. This course will test not only these teams’ engineering skills, but their creative prowess as well. You heard us right, this is NOT your average boy scout derby. Toilets, tooth fairies and space ships have been seen screeching through Red Bull Soapbox Race before, so who knows what the land of Mummers will bring to the track! The auto amateurs are judged on three criteria: speed, creativity and showmanship. So not only should your cart be fast, but it better look fly! Ready to race? Visit the Apply page to download your application. Don’t be left in the dust…hammer out your idea now for Red Bull Soapbox Race! Check out the official website for details and to APPLY! The race will be held on the Manayunk Wall. Cool, right!? Stay posted to ilovemyk.com for details!

Reduce Your Energy Bills
Written by Jolly Green Giant
How To Reduce Your Energy Bills / Energy Conservation Begins at Home Imagine leaving a window open all winter long — the heat loss, cold drafts and wasted energy! If your home has a folding attic stair, a whole house fan or AC Return, a fireplace or a clothes dryer, that may be just what is occurring in your home every day. These often overlooked sources of heat loss and air leakage can cause heat to pour out and the cold outside air to rush in — costing you higher heating bills. Air leaks occur through the small cracks around doors, windows, pipes, etc. Most homeowners are well aware of the benefits caulk and weatherstripping provide to minimize heat loss and cold drafts. But what can you do about the four largest “holes” in your home — the folding attic stair, the whole house fan or AC return, the fireplace, and the clothes dryer? Here are some tips and techniques that can easily, quickly and inexpensively seal and insulate these holes.

The Adage in Age

My brother, Jimmy is 23 years old. He’s a cutie. He’s got puppy-dog, brown eyes, soft curly hair, and a killer smile. Despite his classic good looks, the boy unfortunately suffers from “Dungeon and Dragons” symptoms, ya know, chronic corniness, bad jokes, confused sense of style, and a passion for mythological creatures. In fact, he’s currently residing in Japan, where he’s hoping someone asks him to be a Ninja, and in the meantime he’s teaching English to the Japanese. Jimmy’s girlfriend is 38. She’s 38 years old and climbing.

Are you an animal lover?

http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com

The Animal Rescue Website is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. Just go to the site listed above and click on 'feed an animal in need' for free. It's in a purple box in the middle of the page. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.
